Introduction
This website tracks candidates for the U.S. Congress and State Legislatures that best exemplify the spirit of the freedom movement that is coming alive in this country. All candidates are potential members, regardless of party affiliation, but only those rating high enough according to our selection criteria are included as Members of the Liberty Congress.
Our purpose and goal is to make it easy for freedom loving citizens to learn more about candidates who, by their words and actions, exhibit a strong dedication to winning the fight for freedom.

Candidate Criteria
At the present time the freedom movement has been galvanized to an unprecedented degree by the Presidential Campaign of Congressman Ron Paul. Therefore our current criteria for judging candidates for the Liberty Congress revolves around a potential members' support for his campaign and his key issues. We don't expect many members will agree with all of Congressman Paul's ideas, but we do expect strong alignment with most of them and so that is a requirement to win an endorsement on this website. An explicit endorsement of Ron Paul is also a big plus.
Note that Party Affiliation is not an important criteria and we will not hesitate to support a candidate from any or no political party. Also we do limited checking about the viability of a candidate in a given campaign. Excellent alignment with Ron Paul on the issues combined with a respectable website is the minimum requirement for a potential "Excellent" rating. (To earn an "All-Star" rating, a politician must also have enjoyed some significant success in politics such as winning elections or a presidential primary or perhaps writing an influential book or achieving some other significant accomplishment.)
For those who are not familiar with Ron Paul, we borrow this explanation of his views from the Republican Liberty Caucus of Texas: We prefer candidates that favor a pro-liberty republic as the best form of government. In this Republic the U.S. Constitution is honored and upheld in order to maintain and improve the economic freedom and individual liberty of the people. The honorable Ron Paul, serving as a U.S. Congressman from Texas, best exemplifies this definition.
There will be many tough decisions about candidates who are near the cutoff line as per winning an endorsement from this site. Soon you will e able to register as a user of this site and thus garner the privilege of attaching an opinion to each candidate and thereby influence the ultimate selection and overall rating of the members of the Liberty Congress.
Searching for Candidates
Use the menus on the left to look at the U.S. Congress or a state legislature of interest. Note that we designate a candidate as an active member of the Liberty Congress if they have been judged as passing our criteria and are currently either serving in office and/or actively running for office.
Other politicians who are currently under consideration for membership or who are past members may also be listed. If you think that we have missed a candidate who should be considered for membership, then please let us know. If you drill down to a candidate who has been considered but that we rejected, you will find notes outlining the reasons for this decision. (Keep in mind that all endorsements and non-endorsements on this site are subject to further review at any time.)
Who is responsible for this website?
This site was created by Robert "Rock" Howard. A long time Libertarian Party activist, Rock was the Libertarian candidate for Texas State Senate from the Austin area in 2006. He is now an active supporter of the Ron Paul for President campaign while maintaining ties with the Libertarian Party.
Two moderators, freedomispopular and mbf2k, will be helping Rock to keep the site content up to date. We have added a blog in order to help you keep track of new developments on this website.
